Quality Manager

General:
Provides leadership, direction, and execution of all plant quality functions to support the company's food safety goals.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Responsible for staff training and product processing quality improvements.
The position reports to the Complex manager w/ primary work schedule of M-F, day shift, with flexibility to work early shift, overtime, and weekends, as needed.
Specific Duties /
Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring all products are being produced in a safe manner and in compliance with all GMP's, SSOP's, HACCP, USDA and customer requirements Selects, develops/ leads quality staff in poultry processing facility through coaching, mentoring, & continuing education efforts Promotes food safety and GMP awareness and education; Ensures required training for GMP's, HACCP, SSOP, and USDA is completed & documented Participates in food safety incident investigations, responds to SOP and HACCP deviations and provides recommendations for solutions/ continuous improvement Provides leadership and is an active member of all project teams to ensure food safety concerns are addressed Develops a professional working relationship with USDA staff Provides relevant quality & food safety data and analysis to plant management Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in the area of poultry/food science or related field OR equivalent experience
Experience:
Min.
of 3 years of work experience in quality role, supporting food/ poultry processing operation (required) Skills/Abilities/Attributes:
Experience in a HACCP, QA or food safety leadership / supervision Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; Strong analytical and communication (both oral and written) skills.
Knowledge of poultry and food processing principles including USDA regulations & quality systems Physical Requirements / Environment:
Work safely in hot, cold, wet environment e.
g.
35-40 / 100 degrees Lift / move up to 35 lbs.
; occasionally 50 lbs.
